Many blogs, TV shows, and conversations center around high hopes for the New Year. I even heard of a HOPE index on one morning show where experts weighed in with their projections for 2010 on a scale of 1 to 10. Some of the sound bytes I’ve heard:
Maybe this will be my year
2010 is going to be the year fortune smiles upon me
I will have a breakthrough in the next 365 days
I promise this will be the year that I stop doing ____ and start doing ______
Regardless of the way you approach 2010 I leave you with 2 SECRETS for this NEW YEAR.
- SECRET #1 – The first secret comes from the Apostle Paul. He tells us that he learned the SECRET to rise above his circumstances…whether they be good or bad.
I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and
suffering need. Philippians 4:12
So what was his secret? How could he rise above poverty…when there was no meal in sight? How could he stay grounded when success came his way? Look at verse 13, a favorite verse of many:
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
The SECRET was to recognize that when circumstances change, God doesn’t. Followers of Jesus need not tie their hope to any external factor. Rather, they have an inner peace that transcends this present world.
- SECRET #2 – This is the year that my new book YOUR SECRET NAME releases. In fact, we have a website which contains a SECRET NAME test, tools, small groups, resources, videos, and much more. It’s all free and it’s all to help you discover YOUR SECRET NAME.
Think I’m blowing smoke? Think I’ve just manufactured this concept from my own mind? Think again. The Bible tells us that we have a SECRET NAME.
Do you know the verse? If so, post it in a comment and you may win a free copy of the book when it releases.

Isa 45:3
Rev 2:17
The past year has seemed like a foundational year. Feeling excited about 2010 and the BIG things God has in store. And looking forward to your book!
Nice words. And you nailed the verse. Great job.
Kary: I have been thinking about this new name thing. I think of Abram to Abraham and Jacob to Israel. But a secret name for me? Then I remember when I was doing Wild at Heart and felt God gave me a new name. But the Scripture for the premise? Hmmm. I was wondering if your Scripture to look for is Isaiah 62:2?
Bill…I got Rev. 2:17. But the Isaiah one is right on too. Great job man. Looking forward to you taking the Secret Name test soon.
