I took my daughter for Shamrock Shakes yesterday Hmmm…a favorite thing from when I was a kid? Pixie Stix and Pop Rocks
Mitz
I have to have one of these every St. Paddy’s Day. Now I have the “Copy Cat Ingredients”.
Ingredients
2 cups vanilla ice cream or soy ice cream
1 1/4 cups 2% low-fat milk or soymilk
1/4 teaspoon mint extract
8 drops green food coloring
Ewwwww! Can you believe they use green food coloring like that. Seems kind of “fake”. Wouldn’t you say?
Anyway, I love the fact that I have a piece of each one of my siblings’ hearts. I had that time with them since I don’t get much of it now. THAT I will always treasure. And the fact that we use to get the McDonald’s calendars and a coupon for each month. Sometimes it was FREE fries. Funny thing is now I cannot even stand the place and there’s one a few blocks from my house. I’d rather go out of the way to go anywhere else and I could walk there.

Since I don’t like McD’s and I am Italian I hate to disappoint that I did not and will not make a trip to buy one. As for my childhood, there was only one eating out fast food place. You guessed it: McD’s and they were sparce. hamburgers were 15 cents and we only went when we were out christmas shopping. too poor to eat out any other time. Favorite thing? Playing baseball.

One of my favorite childhood memories… on hot summer days, riding my bike down a big hill close to my house, and at the bottom of the hill jumping off my bike into the foot tall cool clover.

Do you envy my FREE shamrock shake? Not sure why, but after pulling up to the window to grab two $1 sandwiches the McD’s cashier asked if I wanted a free shamrock shake. Not one to turn down free things, and I ended up enjoying the shake. Not usually a mint fan.

I love the traditions. And I am jealous of you Gabe.
