Kary,
Just got around to listening to this. In general I agree. I was pleased that you hit upon the idea that we are not all given equally by God and so we are not all judged on the same level of responisibility.
Luke.12
1. [48] But he who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, shall receive a light beating. Every one to whom much is given, of him will much be required; and of him to whom men commit much they will demand the more.
I think this makes alot of sense out of Rom 1 and 2 where God says that we all need to come to some concluse that there is one God and that some actually do. In fact some did before Christ but outside of Judaism, Rom 2:4-16.
14] When Gentiles who have not the law do by nature what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law.
[15] They show that what the law requires is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or perhaps excuse them
[16] on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus.

This passage tells me that we are to judge noone and that God gives grace to all men. We need a broader definition of grace for God lavishes it upon mankind. Christs cross is responsible for all of our salvatoin. So what of this law written on men’s hearts. It is by grace that it has been done. The heavens declare the glory of God! To christians only? To Jews and Christians? To all men! ANYTHING that brings men toward God is grace and so God’s grace is in all moving all toward him if they choose it. That is why God predestines noone to hell and each man is responsible. I heard one time that the average person hears of Christ 7 times before he comes to him. Each time was a grace. Yet some don’t even come to him on the 8th or 10th time. This is why I have a problem with the calvanist doctrine of irresistable grace. Though as Kari did with soverignty it depends on how you define. I agree with the definition given.
This to me also raises a question about limited atonement since Kari mentioned Calvinism early on.
James 3:1 should also be noted. The extra responisility of the teacher.
Jas.3

Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, for you know that we who teach shall be judged with greater strictness.
It makesit clear as well that not all are called to be teachers and those who are are held to a higher standard because the knowledge that they are given must be gaurded and passed on. What we have been given, we are given to share.
I also like the last stuff you got in to about the Jews crucifying jesus. Peter convicts them. The beauty of this is that God is so wise that he makes good come out of evil. This is why he wins in the end. The devil has much power but he is infinitely less wise than God and he will lead people to do great evil. Yet God can make good come out of it. Praise God.
God bless Kari. I still need to reflect more on it. But in general good job.
