Numbers 10 and 9 when in the desert

The “10 responses in the desert” list comes from an interesting Psalm.

Psalm 106, showcases the Israelites’ legacy, often instructing us what not to do while in the desert.

God clearly directed me to this Psalm when I was doing some pretty bleak desert times back in 2005.

In a couple areas of my life I am still there. desert 3

In many other areas I am out.

A few readers told me they are in the desert now.

May this list be your lifeline.

Here are numbers 10 and 9.

#10 – Believe in God’s promises.

Psalm 106:12a …Then they believed His words

#9 – Sing His praise.

Psalm 106:12b …They sang His praise.

More coming soon.

10 responses when in the desert

The desert.  desert

A place of greatness.

A place of solitude.

Few of us choose such a location.

Yet the desert is where God whispers louder.

It’s the place where the world screams softer.

We can’t avoid it.

Yet few of us embrace it.

This Sunday we’ll discover 10 responses when in the desert.

The list comes from my own time with the Lord in my own recent desert experience.

God led me to a certain passage where the list reached out ad grabbed me.

Blog readers, as always, get a sneak peek.

Be ready for numbers 10 and 9 very soon.

Let the countdown begin.

And the answer for Identity Theft trivia is…

Great guesses!
My thoughts?

Jacob is first human example of identity theft.
And you could argue that Satan is the first supernatural example.

Abraham did pretend to be Sarah’s brother although he still claimed to be Abraham.  (So that one is up for interpretation of whether or not it was true identity theft.)

The sermon should be posted on Monday located on the Podcast Page or iTunes (Recovering Pharisee).
Thanks for playing this round of trivia.

Identity Theft

A Bible trivia question for you:

When is the first occurrence of identity theft in the Bible?  Identity_opener

Post a comment with your guess. I’ll share my guess later this week.

I ask this question because of my upcoming sermon.

It’s titled: Identity Theft.

And my sermon in a sentence is: Identity Crisis leads to Identity Theft.

I expose the tendency for us to steal other people’s  identity when we fail to have clarity regarding our own.

Should be fun.

The next couple weeks I have the chance to speak a number of times.

October 4 – Identity Theft – Grace Church

October 11 – Desert Crisis – Grace Church

October 17 - The Cross of Christ - Change Conference

October 17 – The Call of Christ – Change Conference

I’ll share some of the outlines with you as the days roll by.
